CL17 – Graduate Diploma of Aviation (Flight Operations)

The Graduate Diploma of Aviation (Flight Operations) will provide you with the aeronautical experience required for a career as a commercial pilot. To enrol in the Graduate Diploma of Aviation you must have successfully completed Term 1 of the first year of the Bachelor of Aviation (Flight Operations) or Associate Degree of Aviation (Flight Operations).

OVERVIEW

You will build your skills as a pilot, starting with short flights constrained within the aerodrome training area and circuit area right through to flights at the commercial pilot licence level.  Along the way, you will conduct long distance flights, visiting multiple aerodromes in regional and outback Australia.  You will develop your critical reflection and self-analysis skills as well as analytic, communication and presentation skills.

Career opportunities

This course prepares you for aviation careers in the air transportation industry as a commercial pilot. When you graduate with the Graduate Diploma of Aviation (Flight Operations) you will meet the aeronautical experience requirements for careers as a commercial pilot in the air transportation industry. When studied in conjunction with CQUniversity’s Bachelor of Aviation (Flight Operations) or Associate Degree of Aviation (Flight Operations) you would normally be legally qualified to work as a commercial pilot and have access to aviation careers in the air transportation industry.

Training will comprise of both Ground Theory and Practical Flight Training

Course Entry Requirements and Pre-Requisites

The entry requirements for participants in the CL17 – Graduate Diploma of Aviation (Flight Operations) are listed below:

  • Have an Aviation Reference Number.
  • have proficiency in written and spoken English to at least IELTS 5.5 or Aviation English ICAO Level 4
  • Hold a Class 1 Medical Certificate from a CASA Approved Medical Practitioner
  • minimum age of 17 years for local students and 18 years for International students.
  • have completed schooling that meets Year 11 of high school standard or its equivalent
  • undergo a Federal Police check in Australia, an ASIC requirement that will allow entry into security controlled airports.

Other requirements

On commencement of the course students will be required to obtain a Class 1 medical assessment provided by an accredited aviation medical examiner

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

The entry requirements for participants in the AVI50215 Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane) are listed below:

  • Have an Aviation Reference Number.
  • have proficiency in written and spoken English to at least IELTS 5.5 or Aviation English ICAO Level 4
  • Hold a Class 1 Medical Certificate from a CASA Approved Medical Practitioner
  • minimum age of 17 years for local students and 18 years for International students.
  • have completed schooling that meets Year 11 of high school standard or its equivalent
  • undergo a Federal Police check in Australia, an ASIC requirement that will allow entry into security controlled airports.

Other requirements

Students are required to obtain a Class 1 medical assessment provided by an accredited aviation medical examiner at the commencement of the course.
